Founded in 2015 in San Francisco, Nurx is a direct-to-consumer telehealth platform built to remove barriers to care. The company provides fully online medical consultations, prescriptions, and home delivery for services including birth control, STI testing and treatment, HIV prevention (PrEP), skincare, mental health support, weight management, migraines, UTIs, and menopause care.
As Nurx scaled its marketing efforts and expanded its service offerings — including rapid growth following its 2022 merger with Thirty Madison — the website became a critical driver of acquisition efficiency and conversion performance. Nurx partnered with Storm Brain to transform its digital platform into a flexible, CRO-driven system capable of supporting rapid experimentation, performance optimization, and sustained growth.
The Challenge
As a fast-growing direct-to-consumer telehealth platform, Nurx relies heavily on its website to drive patient acquisition, conversion, and retention. However, its existing site infrastructure struggled to keep pace with the speed and scale of modern digital marketing.
Launching new campaigns, service-specific landing pages, and PDPs required significant development effort, slowing iteration and limiting flexibility for the marketing team. This friction made it difficult to respond quickly to campaign insights, adjust messaging, or test new conversion paths — all of which are critical for high-volume telehealth marketing.
Performance inconsistencies across pages further compounded the issue. Slower load times and uneven page experiences reduced conversion rate efficiency, increased bounce rates, and drove up paid media costs by lowering overall campaign performance. At the same time, limited A/B testing velocity meant optimization cycles were slow, making it harder to validate assumptions and scale what worked.
For a telehealth brand operating in a competitive, regulated space, these challenges directly constrained growth. Nurx needed a flexible, performance-optimized website platform that could support rapid experimentation, maintain reliability at scale, and empower internal teams to move faster — without sacrificing quality, accessibility, or control.
The Solution
Storm Brain redesigned and rebuilt Nurx’s digital experience as a modular, performance-first system built for conversion, scalability, and continuous optimization.
The solution centered on the development of over 100 flexible templates and reusable components, enabling dynamic PDPs and conversion-focused landing pages across multiple telehealth service lines. Each template was purpose-built to support CRO best practices, allowing marketing teams to quickly launch, adjust, and test experiences without developer bottlenecks.
A custom WordPress CMS powered by Timber/Twig gave the Nurx team granular control over layouts, typography, color systems, and display variants — enabling rapid A/B testing and creative iteration while preserving brand and UX consistency. This CMS architecture transformed the site from a static marketing tool into an adaptable experimentation platform.
In parallel, Storm Brain led a deep technical performance optimization initiative. Legacy assets were removed, the asset pipeline was rebuilt, and the build system was optimized to improve stability, scalability, and page speed performance across key conversion paths. These enhancements ensured the platform could support high traffic volumes while delivering fast, reliable user experiences.
The Result
The rebuilt platform unlocked faster execution, stronger performance, and a more data-driven optimization cycle across Nurx’s digital ecosystem.
By improving website performance and conversion efficiency, Nurx reduced cost per acquisition by 38% while achieving 50–70% gains in page speed across critical pages. The modular system expanded testing capacity by 4×, allowing teams to learn faster, iterate with confidence, and scale winning experiences more effectively.
Marketing teams gained the ability to launch and optimize campaigns independently, significantly reducing time-to-market while maintaining consistent UX, accessibility standards, and performance benchmarks. The site evolved from a constraint into a growth engine — supporting acquisition efficiency, experimentation, and long-term scalability.
Today, Storm Brain continues to partner with Nurx through ongoing conversion rate optimization, accessibility audits, and the expansion of a production-ready design system. This continued collaboration ensures the platform remains adaptable as Nurx evolves — supporting sustained growth, experimentation, and innovation across its telehealth offerings.
